Choose how each product is tracked#

Configure product tracking before transactions. Batches and serials can be enabled separately or together; perishable goods require an expiration date on receipt.

Capture identities as goods move#

  1. 1
Set lot and serial tracking on the product before its first transaction.
  2. 2
When receiving, enter the lot number and one serial number for each unit when those tracking choices apply.
  3. 3
Open a received unit or lot and verify its identity and location against the physical label.
  4. 4
At picking, scan or select the eligible lot and serials in the correct warehouse and bin.
  5. 5
At shipment, compare the displayed allocated identity with the item being packed before confirming fulfillment.

Lot numbers group units with a shared batch history; serial numbers identify individual units. Both must survive receiving, transfers, and returns.

Verify location and eligibility#

A serial number registered before delivery is not available stock. Once the goods are received, the unit gains a warehouse location and can be considered for picking if its status and lot allow it.

WARNING: Do not substitute a lot number for individual serials or use a pending, sold, quarantined or otherwise ineligible unit.

If a tracked item cannot move#

Compare the product's tracking choice with the identities entered on the receipt or shipment.

If a number is missing, search the product's history before creating another identity for the same physical unit.
