Expiry Write-Offs & Perishable Disposal

Identify the lot and its remaining stock by location. The supported lot write-off action requires the “Make manual inventory adjustments” permission and an open accounting period when posting applies.

   Open the affected lot and check its remaining quantity and storage location.

   Confirm which units have been removed or quarantined under your site policy.

   Enter the quantity and reason in the supported write-off action, then confirm.

   Reopen Movement History to check the reduction.

   Open the lot again and compare its remaining units with the quantity physically isolated for disposal.

   Open Movement History and identify the write-off entry by lot, date, and location.

The lot's status and its quantity answer different questions: quarantine controls use; a write-off removes units.

After you confirm a write-off, the affected quantity leaves available stock. A past expiration date alone does not remove goods; someone must inspect and process them.

WARNING: A write-off is a physical and financial correction. Verify the goods were removed or quarantined according to local policy before posting.

Check the lot's remaining quantity, the selected location, and whether the period is open for posting.

If part of the lot remains sellable, document exactly which units were disposed of and leave the rest under the appropriate status.

Posting an expiry write-off debits the configured Inventory Adjustment account and credits Inventory Asset for the cost of the units removed. Record the disposal evidence and compare the remaining lot quantity with the ledger movement. Quarantining a lot alone does not post this loss.
