Bank Statement Import (CSV & OFX)

Ingest electronic bank statements via CSV and OFX/QFX with visual column mapping, intelligent duplicate detection (FITID / cryptographic hashing), and validation.

Choose the right bank statement#

Create the bank account and verify its currency. Have a CSV or OFX statement for the correct account and date range; import requires bank reconciliation access.

Preview and import the file#

  1. 1
Choose CSV or OFX preview on the selected bank account. Review parsed dates, amounts, references and duplicate warnings.
  2. 2
Preview the imported dates, amounts, and direction against the bank's original file.
  3. 3
Correct file or mapping errors before the final import. Keep the original bank statement for reconciliation evidence.
  4. 4
Import, then inspect the statement and its unmatched lines before matching transactions.
  5. 5
After import, open the statement and verify the opening and closing balances before matching lines.

An overlapping statement can duplicate bank activity. Keep the original file for later investigation.

Find the imported lines#

Import creates a statement and statement lines. It does not create customer or supplier payments by itself, and it is not a live bank feed.

WARNING: A duplicate or wrong-account import can distort reconciliation. Compare bank account, period and ending balance before committing.

When the file cannot be read#

If the preview cannot parse a date or amount, repair the source file and preview again; do not assume QFX is supported.

If validation rejects rows, correct the file from bank evidence and rerun the import; do not alter amounts merely to pass validation.
