Bank Reconciliation Workflow

Verify internal general ledger cash balances against external bank statements using automated rule-based auto-matching and side-by-side reconciliation workspaces.

Have a statement and posted transactions ready#

Import a statement for the bank account and ensure candidate payments/journals are posted. Check statement currency and dates.

Match bank lines to records#

  1. 1
Open the statement's reconciliation view and inspect unmatched lines and candidate transactions.
  2. 2
Open a suggested match and compare the bank line with the posted payment or journal on direction, amount, date, and reference.
  3. 3
Review suggestions or run auto-match, then verify amount, direction, date and reference before accepting matches. Manually match a line when needed.
  4. 4
Unmatch an incorrect association, add a documented adjustment for genuine bank-only items, and review the summary before closing.
  5. 5
After matching, review the remaining unmatched lines and the statement's running difference.

A suggested match is a starting point. The reviewer is responsible for confirming the bank evidence.

Review the reconciliation status#

Statement lines can be Unmatched, Partly matched, or Matched. The statement moves from Imported to In progress and then Reconciled when the close checks pass.

WARNING: Auto-match is a suggestion mechanism, not a substitute for review. Closing a statement with incorrect matches affects the audit trail.

When a payment is missing#

If a candidate is missing, verify posting status, bank account, currency, date window and whether it is already matched.

If a candidate is absent, check its posting status, bank account, currency, date window, and whether it is already matched.
