Pre-Posting Previews & GL Simulation

Simulate and verify general ledger debits, credits, tax accounts, and currency conversions in real time before committing commercial documents to permanent ledgers.

Start with a draft#

Start with a draft sales invoice, supplier bill, customer or supplier payment, or manual journal. Make sure you can open that record and review its accounting preview.

Preview the accounting entries#

  1. 1
Open the draft and select its accounting preview when available.
  2. 2
Compare debit/credit lines, currency, tax, source amount and accounting period with the underlying document.
  3. 3
Compare each debit and credit account with the type of transaction you are about to post.
  4. 4
If a line is unexpected, return to the document or Accounting Settings, correct the cause, and preview again.
  5. 5
Resolve missing mappings or imbalances, then run the separate Post action when approved.

A preview is the last chance to catch a wrong mapping before the journal becomes part of the ledger.

What a preview does and does not do#

Previewing does not post the document. When you are ready, use the separate Post action; KariVast checks the document again at that point.

WARNING: A preview is a calculation at that moment. Recheck after editing the draft or changing account settings before posting.

When the preview flags a problem#

If the preview fails, correct the indicated account mapping, tax, currency or period condition.

Do not post to see whether an uncertain preview resolves itself; ask Finance to review the source and mapping.
