Choose a bank and ledger account#

Bank reconciliation access and the “View chart of accounts” or “Manage chart of accounts” permission are required. Select an eligible GL account with the bank account's currency.

Add the account and bring in statements#

  1. 1
Compare the account name, currency, and opening details with the bank's own statement before saving.
  2. 2
Open Accounting → Bank Accounts and add the bank name, account name, account number if applicable, currency and eligible GL account.
  3. 3
Open the saved account and use it consistently when recording and reconciling payments.
  4. 4
Review the bank account's statement list before importing CSV or OFX data.
  5. 5
Use the reconciliation workspace for matches and adjustments; creating a bank account alone does not connect a live bank feed.

A bank account is a ledger destination as well as a statement source. A payment linked to another account will not match the expected statement.

Where bank activity appears#

The bank account links imported statement activity to an eligible ledger account. Statement import and reconciliation are separate operations.

WARNING: Check the GL account and currency before importing. Incorrect linkage makes statement comparison misleading.

When an account cannot be selected#

If no GL account is selectable, inspect account type/status and whether it is already used by another bank account.

If a bank account cannot be selected, check whether it is active and whether its currency matches the transaction.
