Sales Orders & Inventory Reservations

The “Create sales orders” permission allows drafts; “Pick, pack, and ship sales orders” governs fulfillment. Confirm the selected warehouse has sufficient available stock for each variant.

   Open Sales Orders and create a draft for the customer.

   Choose the currency and warehouse, then add products and requested quantities.

   Check any lot or serial allocation against available physical units before promising a ship date.

   Review available stock and confirm or reserve the order.

   Open the order to check reserved quantities before sending it to fulfillment.

   Reopen the order after reserving and compare each reserved line with the warehouse's pick list.

Reservation reduces stock available to other orders while leaving the goods in the warehouse.

An order begins as a draft. After you reserve stock, it moves through processing. Processing with zero shipped quantity is shown as Processing — Awaiting Shipment; it is not a partial shipment. After a shipment, the order shows the actual fulfillment reference and the shipped and outstanding quantities. When eligible shipped quantities exist, the order can link to an existing draft or offer invoice creation. You can cancel the unshipped remainder while the order still offers that action; cancellation does not undo earlier shipments or make them unbillable.

WARNING: Do not promise stock twice. If reservation fails, check warehouse, bin, lot, serial and existing reservations before changing the order.
