Tracking Configuration

Configuring regulatory inventory tracking across serial numbers, batch/lot codes, and expiration dates, with receiving and fulfillment enforcement.

Decide what each physical unit needs#

Before the first receipt, decide whether the product uses batch tracking, serial tracking, both, or neither. Perishable products require expiry information on receipt.

Turn on lot, serial, or expiry tracking#

  1. 1
Open the product before its first receipt.
  2. 2
Select Track by Lot/Batch, Track by Serial Number, or both as needed.
  3. 3
For expiring goods, select Perishable and enter Expiry alert (days before).
  4. 4
Choose Costing / Pick Order, save, and check a sample receiving flow.
  5. 5
Check the receiving form for the newly configured lot or serial requirement.
  6. 6
Confirm that the warehouse can capture those labels consistently.

If the product already has stock, reconcile existing identities before changing its tracking choice.

Check the next receipt#

Batch-tracked receipts need a lot number; serial-tracked receipts need exactly one serial per received unit; perishable receipts need an expiration date. Fulfillment validates eligible tracked stock.

WARNING: Tracking changes after transactions can be restricted. Confirm physical labeling and data capture before live receiving.

If tracking cannot be changed#

If the product already has transactions, review its stock history before attempting a tracking change.
