Have category and tax details ready#

The “View products and variants” permission allows inspection; “Create and edit products and variants” allows changes. Create the category and tax rate first if you intend to assign them.

Create a product and its variants#

  1. 1
Open Products and create the product.
  2. 2
Enter Name and Unit of Measure, then choose Category, tracking, and costing options that apply.
  3. 3
Add each variant with its SKU, Price, Unit Cost, Reorder Point, and Safety Stock.
  4. 4
Save and reopen the product. Compare each variant's stock keeping code, price, cost, and tracking choice with the approved catalog sheet.
  5. 5
In a draft receipt or order, search for one of the new variants. Confirm staff can distinguish it from similar products before creating live stock activity.

If a product already has transactions, review the downstream effect before changing its identity.

Check the saved SKUs#

The product holds shared tracking and costing choices. Each variant has its own SKU, price, cost, and reorder values. KariVast may prevent a tracking or costing change after stock activity begins.

WARNING: Confirm SKU and tracking before receiving or reserving stock. These settings affect later lot, serial and valuation records.

If the product cannot be saved#

Check for a duplicate SKU, invalid price or cost, missing required field, or tracking rules that conflict with existing stock.
