Find the right template#

Identify the document type and its current default template before editing the layout.

Review the output before changing it#

  1. 1
Open Document Templates and choose the document type.
  2. 2
Review the current default and preview it with sample or source data.
  3. 3
If you change the layout, save and preview again before setting a new default.
  4. 4
Open a preview for the document type your team actually sends.
  5. 5
Check the default selection and sample output after saving a change.

A template choice changes presentation; the source transaction still controls amounts.

Check future documents#

A new default affects future output, not PDFs already issued. Operations should check items and addresses; Finance should check amounts and tax.

WARNING: Changing a default template changes future output, not already-issued PDFs. Regenerate and review a document if a corrected copy is required.
