Choose the document type#

Know which document type you are designing and have a real sample record ready for the preview.

Build and preview a template#

  1. 1
Open Document Templates and create or edit a template.
  2. 2
Choose available content blocks and fields from the displayed list.
  3. 3
Preview the result with sample or source data, then save.
  4. 4
Set it as the default only after the preview is approved.
  5. 5
Preview a long customer name, several line items, totals, and tax with sample data.
  6. 6
Save the layout, then preview it again before setting it as the default.

If text overlaps or a field is missing, revise the layout before anyone sends it.

Make it the default when ready#

Check future generated documents against the approved template. Archived or older versions remain separate from the current default.

WARNING: Do not type guessed variable names or assume every source field is available. Use the variable catalog and a real preview to verify each block.
